John Acorn (11/01/937- ) was born in Paterson, New Jersey. He did post graduate work in sculpture at Hochscule fur Blidende Kunst (1969-70), West Berlin, Germany. He was head of the Department of Visual Arts and History at Clemson University from 1976-1997. His works have been included in national and regional shows and have been commissioned by various organizations including South Carolina National Bank as well as City Hall Plaza of Greenville, South Carolina. His works are the permanent collections of the Greenville County (SC) Museum of Art, the South Carolina Arts Commission, and the Mint Museum, Charlotte, NC. Acorn has been a member of the Southern Association of Sculptors, the South Carolina Artist's Guild, and the Southeast College Art Association.
