Internship/Fellowship Program Application

Indicate ALL diplomas you have completed and/or are currently pursuing (e.g. high school, associate, bachelor, master, doctoral, other). Use the "+" button to add each new school.

Attach a 1-2 page letter indicating: 1. Why you are applying for an internship/fellowship at the Asheville Art Museum 2. Your specific interest in and/or skills related to each position for which you are applying 3. What you hope to contribute during your time at the Asheville Art Museum Some positions may require additional information in your letter of interest. See individual position descriptions for instructions.

Attach a 3-5 page paper from a class related to the position(s) for which you are applying.

Attach unofficial transcripts for EACH college or university attended, starting with the most recent school.

Indicate two professional, educational, or character references (no family members) who are completing a reference form in support of your application. The internship/fellowship program reference form is available at ashevilleart.org/about/careers/intern. These forms should be submitted by the reference directly to the Museum; it is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that completed forms are submitted to the Museum by the appropriate application deadline.

The Museum regularly coordinates with schools, colleges, and universities to ensure academic credit is received by current students.

Thanks to the generous support of the Selby & Richard McRae Foundation, starting January 1, 2020 we are proud to welcome UNC Asheville students to the Museum each day for visits, tours, research, and programs through the UNC Asheville Student Membership Initiative. As part of the Initiative, the Museum also awards one UNC Asheville student a paid internship each semester to support learning projects in one or more Museum departments. The Museum participates in the Rosemary Kennedy Internship Initiative, which provides stipends for internship and pre-professional training opportunities for youth with disabilities, ages 15–22. Read more at ashevilleart.org/about/careers/intern.

During the screening process, I hereby authorize LexisNexis Screening Solutions Inc. (PO Box 105108, Atlanta, GA 30348-5108) on the behalf of Asheville Art Museum to procure a consumer reports which I understand may include information regarding criminal history, social security verification, motor vehicle records, or any other background checks. I hereby authorize the obtaining of “consumer reports” and/or “investigative consumer reports” by AAM at any time after the receipt of this authorization and throughout my volunteer service, if applicable. To this end, I hereby authorize, without reservation, any law enforcement agency, administrator, state or federal agency, institution, school or university, information service bureau, employer, or insurance company to furnish any and all background information requested by LexisNexis Screening Solutions Inc., another outside organization acting on the behalf of AAM, and/or AAM itself. I agree that a facsimile, electronic or photographic copy of this Authorization shall be as valid as the original. I understand that I may request a complete and accurate disclosure of the nature and scope of the background verification; to the extent such investigation includes information bearing on my character, general reputation, or personal characteristics.
