Bettie Pritchard (04/20/1918- ) was born and still lives in Asheville, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of North Carolina at Asheville and a Master of Arts degree in painting from Western Carolina University. She has also attended Meredith College and The University of North Carolina in Greensboro. Ms. Pritchard has taught painting classes at the Asheville Art Museum and at the Opprotunity House in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She is a former art teacher at Montreat Anderson College and has written a weekly art column for the Asheville Citizen Times. Ms. Pritchard's work is represented in several permanent collections including First Union Bank and the Bank of Asheville. She has shown extensively all over Asheville. Was a member of an Asheville Artists' Group in the early 1970s known as the Thursday Tens. This group included Fran Alderman, Margaret Cameron, Peggy Dodge, Martina Haggard, Randy Macatee, Anne Parker, Bettie Pritchard, Jane Rutland, Gertrude Sater and Gem Sullivan.
