Group Tours for Adults
Groups of 10 or more adults are invited to schedule a tour of the Museum's Collection or one of our special exhibitions. Our inquiry-based group tours, led by volunteer docents or Museum staff, challenge visitors to hone their observation skills.
Our regular, docent-led adult group tour offerings are free for Museum Members or included with admission. The group admission rate for adults is $13/person; student discounted admission (i.e. college student with valid ID) is $10/person. Some restrictions apply. If you are a tax-exempt institution of higher education or nonprofit organization, please contact the Education Department for more information about payment options.
On the group-tour request form, you may choose a tour of the Collection, Intersections in American Art; one of our special exhibitions; or Discovering Art, a journey through the Museum that considers how artists use the elements of art and principles of design in their work.
Have a special request? If your class or group would like a custom-designed tour or program led by our Curatorial or Education staff, let us know! Customized tours and programs are available for $50. Please contact our Education Department at 828.253.3227 x122 for more details.
For self-guided groups: The Museum welcomes instructors to guide students through our galleries independently. For college/adult groups of 10 or more, the instructor must make a reservation at least two weeks in advance through the Education Department; please complete the tour request form below, indicating your group as self-guided. Groups with 20+ visitors may need to divide into smaller groups before entering the galleries. Please note that Museum-scheduled tours take priority over self-guided groups; your first choice of date and time may not be available due to gallery space constraints.
