David Packard (1928-1968) was born in Albany, NY and died in Chicago, IL. Packard attended Syracuse University from 1946-48. He taught at University of Illinois 1965-67. He exhibited in Chicago, and received numerous awards for his work.
Packard was a sculptor known for his abstractions, and Koishe–of which the meaning is not known–certainly falls into that category. The use of disparate materials that make up a body (of sorts) give Koishe an almost menacing presence (or perhaps it needs a hug).
