Two sessions (choose one):
In conjunction with our current exhibition Across the Atlantic, Asheville artist Jenny Pickens leads this teacher professional development for local arts and STEAM teachers/coordinators highlighting the relationship between art, science, and technology that was critical to the Impressionist movement. Participants use Polaroid cameras to create instant photographs of everyday street scenes, tour the exhibition, and create their own plein-air paintings in downtown Asheville.
Visual Arts or STEAM teachers/coordinators are invited to apply to participate in this professional development. All participants receive a $75 stipend for the day. Click here to apply.
Please note:
The Museum is committed to providing engaging and educational experiences for pre-K–12 teachers in WNC schools and beyond. Our professional-development opportunities include curriculum-based and exhibition-inspired workshops led by Museum educators and/or special guests that provide teachers with tools to facilitate object-based learning. These workshops are interactive, hands-on, and incorporate artmaking. Come excited to learn together with your colleagues, and leave inspired with ideas to incorporate into your classroom and personal practice!
